Acting Up

Katy Bishop was sitting next to the director, Tony Price, as they started the opening review of the boys who had passed the first screening test for the lead in an upcoming movie. She had already been selected to play the lead female role. In her other four movies, she’d started with small roles, then twice portraying a major character. In this movie, she would be in much of the film, splitting time with the boy lead.

“Okay,” the stage manager said to the 22 boys on the stage. “This is the final selection for roles. One thing to keep in mind. The lead character will appear in the movie in white briefs and during the filming five girls will be present. If you don’t think you can do this, when you are called for your audition tell the director. It doesn’t mean you won’t be selected, but those of you in this group will not be considered for the lead role. We are going to choose 10 of you. That will be the lead role, 4 supporting roles, and the rest background roles. Good luck.”

The boys were sent back to the waiting room and the director began calling them one at a time. To reach this step, they had all been given the same script and called on stage to deliver it. That had narrowed the list from over 100 boys to these.

With 15 minutes planned for each boy, this could take several hours. However, the director knew that many of the boys would be rejected in just a few minutes of answering questions.

Katy smiled as the 15^th boy was called. “Choose him for the lead,” she said to Mr. Price. He didn’t respond, but he made a mental note of the boy.

The 16^th boy was very well known by Tony Price. He was also the producer for a TV show called “Head of Household”, commonly shortened to HOH. The boy on the stage, Tyler Bennett, was an actor on that show.

Tony Price asked just a few questions of Tyler. The kid’s prior reading had been one of the best, and he knew how to take direction and did so without complaint. He made a mark on his score sheet for two different characters for the movie, one being Adam, the name of the lead character. The other was for a major role for a character named Peter.

The last boy was heard four long hours later. Tony Price met with the producer and acting coaches, and allowed Katy Bennett to sit on as they discussed their choices for each character.

She sat quietly as they worked their way up the list, from supporting to major and finally the lead. The group split on two boys for the lead role: Tyler Bennett and Kurt Jamison. The producer, Don Cooper, looked over to Katy.

Ms. Bishop, you have to act with one of them, and it involves a kissing scene. Do you have a favorite?”

“Yes sir, I do. I think Kurt would be the best choice.” She had a secret crush on the actor, and seeing him in briefs would be a big deal to her. “Tyler Bennett would make the best antagonist. And even though this would be his first movie, he does have two years of TV experience.”

“As a supporting actor,” Jean McDonald said. She was a stage manager and thought that Kurt Jamison’s involvement in two movies outweighed Tyler’s experience. However, Kurt had not given a clear answer to questions about being seen in nothing but briefs in the movie, while Tyler said he was okay with it.

“What is the Bennett kid like on your set?” the producer asked Tony Price. “I heard you had some problems the first year of HOH.”

“We did, but none with Tyler. The problems were with the two lead boys, Adam West and Tom Bolin. And it was handled in a rather unique way. Tyler never gave us any reason to consider cutting his character. In fact, he impressed us, and we get more audience mail for him. That was enough to convince us to increase his time on camera in Season 2. And we plan to increase it more next season. I’d like us to consider him for the role of Adam and Kurt for the role of Peter.”

“Does anyone else have any experience with either of the two boys?” Dan asked. As the producer, he needed to have assurances that filming would not be delayed by actor problems. “I was a little concerned with Jamison’s answer to appearing in underwear.”

“But he looks more like our character, and I think he gave a better answer to the bullying question,” the lead writer offered. “Tyler said he had never been bullied and never saw anyone being bullied.”

“He wasn’t quite honest with that,” Tony admitted. “He’s not allowed to talk about how we dealt with the problems we had on HOH the first season. But I can tell you, he was bullied by one of the lead actors and he handled it quite well.”

Dan waited for 30 seconds, but when no one else spoke he made a decision. “Tyler Bennett is our Adam. Kurt Jamison will play Peter.” Katy was disappointed, even though a boy she’d seen previously on TV was going to star in a movie with her. He was cute, and she would get to kiss him. And even though she wanted Kurt in the scene where he would be almost naked, she’d have to accept Tyler. It was a far better choice than Theo Harris. She had also heard rumors about how the two lead kids on HOH had been punished for the stuff they did during rehearsals and shooting. She wondered how much was true, and if Tyler could be convinced to discuss it. And maybe she could find a way for him to lose the lead role and her crush to replace him.

“Hey, congratulations on getting the lead,” Kurt Jamison offered to Tyler Bennett right after the selections had been announced. The two of them had been told their roles apart from the other boys since they would be playing the lead and second largest role.

“Yeah, thanks. I know you wanted it too.”

“I did, but I wasn’t sure about the part in briefs. I think I could do it, but I was honest with them when they asked. How about you? Are you really comfortable with it?”

“I’m scared to death,” Tyler admitted. “I’m really kind of shy about that.”

“Dude! What did they say when you told them?”

“I didn’t tell them.” He saw the look on Kurt’s face. “I love my job on HOH, but I want more. I want to be in this movie. Especially since the director is the same guy who directs the TV show.”

“Yeah, I know. How’s Tony Price to work with?”

“He’s the only director I’ve ever worked with so I don’t know good from bad. But I like him. He allows some goofing around, telling jokes, and stuff as long as it doesn’t interfere with the shooting schedule. And he gives good direction, although maybe you won’t need that as much as I will. I enjoyed “Beach House” and thought you acted very well.”

“Yeah, it was a good cast and a good movie,” Kurt responded. “It was my second movie, which made it a bit easier. I’ve never been on TV though. I like movies better. You spend a month or two in the summer and then it’s done. You guys shoot what, 12 episodes of Head of Household?”

“Yeah, in the fall. We’ll be starting season 3 shortly after this is done.”

Kurt coughed to hide his reluctance to ask his next question. “I saw from your stuff online that you’ve got a twin sister.”

“Yeah, Trisha. We look similar, but we’re nothing alike.”

“Similar? I saw the pictures. You two are identical. How come she hasn’t acted?”

“Because she’s a negative person. She won’t do the work it takes to get through an audition. I took acting classes for over a year before I got in a commercial. I was lucky to get on HOH. Trisha is mean. Look, if you want to meet her, she’s probably somewhere around. She auditioned for this movie too. I think they only brought her here because I was coming. She was bounced out in the opening Q&A test.”

Kurt frowned. He had wanted to meet Trisha. But not if she was like Tyler was describing.

“Well, I guess we should go and meet the rest of the cast.” The two boys headed back to where the other kids were gathered. Selection for the girls had been completed two days prior, and they were also there for a short cast party so they could get to know each other. On the wall was a poster that showed each of the main characters names and the actors who would play them:

“There you are,” Katy said as soon as the two boys entered the room with the other actors. “I’m so glad you got the lead.” She walked over and put her arm around Tyler’s shoulders and pulled him towards the middle of the room.

At first, Tyler was stunned. A beautiful girl had her arm around him. An actress with several movies already under her belt.

“Thanks,” he all but stammered. “But why are you glad I get to play Adam? Kurt would have been just as good, maybe even better.”

He turned them to look back at Kurt as he talked, only to all but run into Theo Harris.

“You only got the part because Jamison is too scared to be seen in underpants. Katy here has a crush on him and probably pushed for him to play Adam,” he sneered. “It should have gone to me. I’ve been in more movies than her and the Jamison puke.”

“Ignore him, he’s just a poor loser,” Katy said as she allowed Tyler to pull her back to where Kurt was still standing. “It would have been just as good if your new friend got the lead, I’m just glad it wasn’t that asshole Theo. I never could have kissed him. Not even a movie kiss, which doesn’t really count.” She couldn’t tell him that Theo was right about the crush and who she had supported.

“Hi Katy,” Kurt said as they approached. “We met, briefly, at the SAG awards. Sorry you didn’t win, but Alisha Anderson was the clear choice.”

“Thanks. I remember meeting you as we were heading to our seats. And I’m not sorry that I lost to her. “Ashes” was a good movie, made great by her performance. I learned a lot just from watching. I’ve seen your movies too; you deserve an award for “Second Place.”

They bantered back and forth, allowing Tyler to escape her grasp and go and meet the other actors and actresses. He noticed that Theo was more or less being ignored by the group. Katy found him after he’d had time to introduce himself to the remaining kids who would be in the movie with him.

Tony Price and Don Cooper, Director and Producer, arrived together after allowing time for the actors to meet and talk. They both spoke, saying little about the movie but talking more about the importance of commitment and dedication to the work it would take.

“We’ll have scrips ready for you in three days,” Tony explained. “We’ll be shooting at an old campground that’s been closed for a few years. You won’t be staying in the cabins; we’ll have trailers for you. Our first reading will be on the afternoon of your arrival. We’re handling all the transportation for you. Family members or legal guardians will have their own trailers, allowing you to have a place to relax and catch a nap. There will be many scenes shot after dark. All the details are in a package we’ve given to your parents.”

“Speaking of which,” Don Cooper continued, “Your invited guests are waiting for you in the next room. Why don’t we greet them.”

Tyler found Kurt just before the other boy went through the door. “If you want to meet her, my sister will be there. Just don’t expect too much. If she likes you she’ll talk your ear off. And if she doesn’t, you’ll be more than ready to find someone else to talk to in just minutes.”

With her arm over his shoulders again, he and Katy held back allowing the other kids to go through the door first. “We’ve got the lead roles, we should enter last, and together. It will generate a lot of press.”

“There will be reporters there?” Tyler asked.

“Probably not, but they will know who was there and do their best to get interviews. When you read them, don’t get angry with what Theo Harris says about you. He won’t wait for a reporter to find him. He has his own pet people who will clean up what he says but still publish his rants.”

They entered. It was noisy inside, and it got louder as the two of them moved towards the center of the room. Tyler had never been to a cast party like this. The TV show had a big one at the end of Season 1, but nothing before the show started. He was more than happy at this point to let Katy Bishop guide him. She pointed out a girl in the background. “That’s Theo’s sister, Gail. She’s just as much a jerk as he is, but she doesn’t act. But if she talks to you, be nice or you’ll be reading about it in tomorrow’s news.”

A few friends, siblings, and parents made up most of the crowd. The writers and the lead production people were there too. Tyler quickly lost track of who everybody was. But Katy seemed to remember everyone she met and who they were attached to. The first moment they had alone she whispered to him that it was important to his career to keep names and faces straight. “You never know who you will meet again, and life gets easier when you can address them by name.”

They’d met nearly everyone when Tyler looked back to one of the corners of the room. “Damn, that can’t be good,” he said. Katy looked where he was looking. “That’s my twin sister, talking with Theo.” He noticed that Kurt was not around.

“Oh, you’ve got a twin,” Katy commented. “I didn’t know that. She’s cute. Ignore Harris, he’s a jerk and everyone knows it so his rants get laughed at. I want to meet your sister. What’s her name?”

“Trisha. And you probably don’t want to meet her. She and Theo share a lot of traits.”

“Oh, that would be too bad. But we can’t ignore her. Theo will tell the world. Try not to respond with your first thoughts.”

Tyler figured that if Katy Bishop said this was important that it must be, so he put his left arm around her waist and they approached.

“Trisha, this is Katy Bishop,” he said politely. “She’ll be playing Savannah. Katy, my sister Trisha.”

“Pleased to meet you,” she said. “Do you act?”

“Theo here promised to put in a good word for me next time he sees me,” she said. Then she turned to her brother. “You made a big mistake. Theo said you get bullied in the movie. Just like in real life. In the movie you ultimately get tied to a tree in your underwear and the girls in the movie all find you. They’re going to have to tie you for real or you’ll run away like a scared little bunny.” She turned back to Theo and added, “Tyler is very embarrassed about his body. He doesn’t even go shirtless at the pool.”

“It’s to protect my body from the sun,” Tyler blurted. “You know, skin cancer and other stuff. I’ll be fine.”

“You seem to know more about the movie than the rest of us,” Katy remarked.

“It seems one of the writers doesn’t feel he gets paid enough,” Theo said in a low voice. Then he looked at Tyler. “Tell me about the times you’ve been bullied. I’m one of the boys who will be picking on you in the movie. It will be easier for you to act if you’re feeling the pain from a real encounter. I met Adam West and he told me about some of the pranks he pulled on you in HOH.”

Adam had the lead role as one of two sons on the TV show. Tyler could feel his cheeks turn red as he recalled a few of the backstage pranks. But he also knew how it had been solved. Only he’d signed an agreement to never talk about it. He was about to respond when he remembered Katy’s warning not to say what came to mind first. Instead, he simply said, “They were harmless little pranks. I’m sure that goes on in movies too. Nothing as dramatic as you make it sound.”

“He told me he gave you a swirly after he and Tom Bodin had pissed in the toilet,” Theo said. “Did he lie to me?”

Tom Bodin played the younger brother on HOH. And yes, they had done that to him. It ruined the schedule for the day as he had to go and take a shower back in his dressing room and wouldn’t come back out. But again, he took Katy’s advice.

“Don’t believe everything Adam West tells you. He has a tendency to exaggerate things. Like the size of his…” He stopped himself just in time. Adam had bragged about how long his dick was. But when the entire cast got to see it, it was nowhere near as big as he had claimed. But how he saw the boys dick was the one thing he was not allowed to talk about.

“It happened,” Trisha giggled. “I heard Mom telling my dad what happened.” She was rarely allowed on set, instead staying at home with Dad while Mom was in Hollywood with Tyler.

Katy had heard enough, and knew it was time to make an exit. “Come, you haven’t met my parents yet,” she said as she tugged on Tyler to pull him away before he spoke again. “Nice to meet you Trisha.”

“You did fine,” she said once they were far enough away. “Do not ever confirm anything Harris says. He’s a total jerk. But the press loves getting gossip from him, especially when he can honestly say it came directly to him from the source. I take it you had to sign an NDA.” She saw the confused look on his face and added, “A Non-Disclosure Agreement. Something legal that prevents you from ever discussing what happens.”

“Yeah, we all did. Apparently, Adam West violated it. It doesn’t matter, my sister confirmed it for him,” he sighed.

“And don’t confirm it to others either, like you just did to me,” she said. “Don’t worry, I won’t use it against you. But this is a cutthroat industry and people will sell their soul to advance. He probably will float a balloon to see what kind of response it gets, but confirmation from your sister doesn’t carry the weight of getting it from you.”

“I’m starting to think I made a mistake wanting to add the big screen to my resume. There is nothing like this with TV.”

“There is, but not as much. There are more openings for roles on TV than in movies. Don’t say anything, but I’ve heard rumors about what happened to Adam West and Tom Bodin and I’d love to know the truth. But if you know, don’t share it. Not with me or anyone.”

Tyler did know. His contract would be revoked if he ever told what he knew. But this was the first time he learned that some antics from the show were known by people outside the cast. “Can’t I trust anyone?”

“Yeah, but you have to be careful with what you say even to people you trust. Kurt Jamison is a good guy; you’ll do well to have him as a friend. But there are things you can say and things you shouldn’t. And then there are the things that you never can expose unless you want to ruin your career. Just be careful. Things you think you said in private may not stay there. And never talk if there is any microphone around. Too many people have not realized the mike was live and ended their jobs by saying stuff.”

“Do you think he was right? I mean about me being tied to a tree in just briefs?” Tyler knew he’d have to do a seen in underpants. But he’d assumed his hands would be free and he could cover up a bit. He’d never have taken the lead role if he knew what Theo had said.

She didn’t know, but she didn’t doubt that Theo was correct. This added a new interest for her. She wanted in the worst way to see Kurt in briefs, and the thought of him tied to a tree made her want it even more. Perhaps the kiss would come during that scene. But Tyler had the lead role, not Kurt, and seeing him that way would at least be interesting. “I don’t know, I think he was trying to scare you. Your sister told him stuff he could use, and he’d like a chance at the lead role. He wouldn’t hesitate to make stuff up in order to get you to quit.” He didn’t respond. “Was your sister correct? You don’t even want to be seen shirtless?”

“I guess,” he replied after a few seconds. “Sunburn too, and cancer are concerns too.” He could see she was about to ask the same question Kurt had asked. “I took the lead role because I want to be in movies as well as on TV. But I didn’t think I’d be tied up.”

“Maybe Harris is lying. Or wrong. And if you’re really freaked out by it, they may rewrite the script. Don’t dwell on it now. One thing though. I’m not a good guy in the movie. I’m going to tease you. Not me, but my character, Savannah. You have to separate me from her.”

“Yeah, I get it,” Tyler said. “I’ll know it isn’t really you when it happens.”

Tyler was not pleased that his sister would be staying with their mom during the movie, but he didn’t get any say in the decision. The only good news was that she would be sharing a separate trailer with Mom and not in his. Each of the 10 primary actors had their own trailer. Not big fancy ones, just a 22-foot-long travel trailer. It had a couch that folded out into a bed, a tiny shower, and a gas-powered refrigerator and kitchen. Parents were not in the front circle close to the old campground, but they were only a few minutes walking distance away.

A large tent had been set up for meetings, and today was going to be the first read of the script. Tyler soon found out that Theo Harris had been correct. Adam, the character he’d be playing, was going to be tied to a post in his underwear by the other members of his cabin. He would then be found by the girls from a second camp that really didn’t exist. All of the movie would be shot in and around the abandoned camp, and two of the cabins had been rebuilt to allow interior shots. Rebuilding primarily involved removing one wall and part of the roofs.

The basic story was that Adam replaced a boy who had been part of Cabin 5 for three years and the remaining 4 boys in that cabin resented him. They played several pranks on him, the worst being tying him to a post, but then in a storm Adam would rescue one of them, saving his life. Several other kids would be in and around as background to make it look like an active camp.

“Will they be around when Adam gets tied up?” Tyler asked. The fewer people who would see him, the better.

“Since that scene is supposed to take place in the early morning, no,” the head writer answered.

“But we’ll be shooting it around dusk,” Tony Price added. “They might be. Is that a problem?”

Tyler looked across the table and saw Theo smile. “No, I guess not.” The smile got wider on Theo’s face, and suddenly he knew that the boy would make sure as many of the extras as possible would be there.

The reading took the entire day. Lunch was catered in, and it was good. At the end, once all questions had been answered, Tony Price spoke.

“Tomorrow we’ll do a rehearsal of the week’s shooting schedule. You won’t need to be in costume or makeup for the first couple of days, but we are going to follow the shooting schedule so you must be in place at the proper time. Because all of you are minors, we have rigid rules for hours you can work, so none of you will be on set longer than allowed.” He handed out the schedule for tomorrow. “Look at what scene is being shot and try and learn your lines. We know we’ll have hiccups on the first couple of days, but once filming starts, I don’t want to have to stop because you aren’t ready or aren’t on time for your scene. Tyler, this process is different than what we do on HOH. I’m counting on your ability to learn your lines and be ready in in place when we call you. Anyone have a question?”

None did, and the production team dismissed them. Tyler’s package was bigger than that of any of the other actors. He returned to his RV to get to work, but was interrupted immediately by his mom.

“I know you’ll want to work until bed time on your lines,” she said. “So I prepared a quick dinner and then stuff you can snack on while you work. It’s just you and I, Trisha is off somewhere and I’ll warm hers up later.”

He wanted to work, but he knew his mom was right, eat first. He followed her to her trailer and they talked about the reading. He didn’t bring up the big prank scene. It wasn’t something he wanted to talk about with her.

When they were done, he thanked her and took the remains back to his trailer for later. As he entered the actor’s circle of RVs, he saw Trisha with Theo Harris and Lucia Garcia. They laughed as he passed them and went to his trailer.

Inside, he saw that someone, his sister he was sure, had moved stuff around. The script was not where he’d left it. He wondered if somehow she or the other actors she was hanging out with had set him up by replacing pages. But he figured he’d remember much of the reading and would probably recognize if anything was different.

Kurt and Katy knocked on his door, and he said hi to them. They wanted to practice their lines together for the scenes they would all be rehearsing together, and he agreed. The three of them worked until evening, when the other two had to return to the parent’s camp for food. Tyler worked on his lines until well after dark before turning off the lights and sleeping in his clothes, too exhausted to even undress.

“Hey, wake up,” Kurt said as he shook Tyler.

“Huh?” Tyler woke up looking around, not sure at first where he was. Then he remembered. In an RV for a movie. And he was supposed to be somewhere at eight o’clock. “What time is it?”

“Just after seven,” Kurt announced. “You missed breakfast, but I brought you some scrambled eggs and sausage links. I’ll put them in the microwave and warm them up.”

“Ugg. I need a shower.” Tyler sat up as his head cleared. He opened his suitcase and got out clean clothes. “Uh, thanks for waking me. But like I said, I gotta take a shower.”

“So go. I’ll have your breakfast warmed up and ready for you when you’re done. And then we need to get going or we’ll be late.” Kurt and him were in the first rehearsal this morning. He saw Tyler sitting there, clean clothes in hand, but not moving. “Oh, shit. You don’t want me to see you. Okay, I get it. I’ll wait outside.”

Tyler felt foolish. “No, I guess that I could uh, shower with you here.” He got off the bed and removed the shirt he’d worn the day before. But he paused when it came to his shorts.

“Look, I’ll be outside. We don’t have time for this. It isn’t like I’m dying to see you naked. But you need to hurry.” He went to the kitchen area and started closing the cheap drapes over the windows. He heard Tyler pass behind him, heading to the back of the trailer where the small shower was. He turned left.

Tyler washed quickly, feeling stupid for being too scared to be naked in front of Kurt. It was just a guy he told himself. A kid his own age. But he still was totally embarrassed to be naked with Kurt inside the trailer. He rinsed off and turned the water off.

He grabbed a towel and dried off enough to get dressed. “You can come back in now,” he said as he held the door open.

He ate quickly before he and Kurt headed for where they were supposed to be. They arrived five minutes late, and Tony Price looked at his watch but didn’t say anything.

“It was my fault,” Tyler said. “Kurt came and woke me up. He’s only late because I wasn’t ready on time.”

“Okay, just work on that, especially on the days when we are shooting,” Tony said.

The kids worked for a few hours, getting through three scenes, before Kurt was dismissed and told to relax. His next rehearsal wouldn’t be until later in the afternoon. Tyler had one more scene to go through, this time with Efrem Jefferson. It was the first time they’d been together since the audition party, and even there they’d only said hi.

“Have you done this before?” Tyler asked. “I don’t think I’ve seen your name before now.”

“Five movies and a miniseries,” Efrem said. “Bit parts in each. I’m normally not in much of them after the cutting is done. At least in this movie I get to act a little and not just stand in the background. In this movie I have a real character. I have a name. Antine. Who the hell came up with that for a first name? But I’m here and I’m gonna be on camera and get paid.”

They did their scenes together. Tyler learned that it was going to be Antine who does the actual tying up of his character. They practiced it, only for the rehearsal he was fully dressed. Still, it embarrassed him, especially when three of the girl actors came in to practice their lines.

“Tyler, your day is done,” Tony Price said when they’d finished. “You’ve got the look we will need when the girls show up. However, I’m feeling a bit uncomfortable. I need to know now. Are you going to be able to do the same scene in just briefs?”

“Yes sir,” Tyler said, showing more confidence than he really felt. He wanted to keep his own doubts private. On the way back to his trailer. He passed Kurt and Katy heading the other way.

“Hey, aren’t you supposed to be in the woods for the practice run where I find you tied up?” Katy asked.

“Nope,” he answered. “Tony said I was done. I practiced that part already, only they had a stand-in girl playing your role.”

“Did she kiss you?” Kurt asked.

“No. Well, kind of. She touched her lips to my cheek.”

“Damn,” Katy muttered. “That means my practice kiss will be with some other boy who didn’t make it into the movie.”

“Hey give me a second with Tyler, okay?” Kurt said to her. She said goodbye and continued on to where she was supposed to be. “Look, Katy gave me an idea that I thought might help you out. I set it up, but maybe you won’t like the idea. Please keep in mind that all I’m trying to do is help you. I talked to Theo Harris and Juan Cano about your shyness. They are going to meet you at your trailer. If you agree, they will let you undress to your boxers and tie you up and pretend to tease you. Don’t be pissed, if you don’t want to you can tell them …”

“Jamison told us you were scared about the underpants scene and that we were supposed to tie you up inside your trailer,” Juan asked. “Is any of that true? Or is he playing a prank on you?”

“No, it isn’t a prank. I am worried about doing the scene, and practicing it with fewer people around will help. Wait here for a second, I need to change first.”

He hurried, afraid if he stopped and thought about what he was about to do he’d chicken out. He stripped off all of his clothes and put the pair of blue briefs on. Then he stuck his head out the door of the trailer. “I’m ready.”

“I think we should do it out here,” Theo said. “You’ll be outside when they film it.”

“No, inside,” Tyler insisted. He stepped back from the door.

Harris had the rope. He looked down at Tyler’s briefs and shook his head. “Shit, you’ve got nothing to be afraid of. You hardly even make a bulge. Your dick must be the size of a ten-year-old. Hands behind your back. You’ll just have to pretend they are tied to a pole.”

“Kate wanted to be the one to untie you. If she’s late, Kurt will take care of it,” Theo said. “You’ll be fine here in your trailer.” He, Juan, and Emily left, closing the door behind them.

Tyler’s first thought was to get the ice cubes out of his briefs. He struggled, trying to do it with his hands tied, and after several attempts managed to pull the leg openings apart just enough to let the half-melted cubes drop to the floor.

He was sure that one of the voices belonged to Lucia Garcia, who would be playing Sofia in the movie. “Yeah. I shouldn’t have said never. You act well in HOH; some production companies will probably take a chance on you. But your pay will lower. And that’s not a for sure thing.”

“Wait, that’s why he did it. Theo wanted the part I got. He’s trying to make me quit.”

“That wouldn’t surprise me. But again, I warn you not to say that to anyone beyond me unless you can prove it. It isn’t worth ruining your career over. But it’s up to you.”

“I’m not quitting,” Tyler proclaimed. “And thanks for your warnings. I hate it, but I think you know what you are talking about. I like acting, and I’m not going to sacrifice that. But it still makes me angry that he’ll get away with it. Unless I can get my sister to say it was him, I guess I have to let it go.”

That evening, after dinner with his mom and sister, Trisha followed him back to his trailer despite his repeated requests and orders for her to go away. She followed him inside.

“Theo said that he would make sure I got in a movie if I helped him,” she began. “I need to make you quit. You don’t know how many people saw you naked today, but I do. And many of them want to see more.”

“Why didn’t you tell Mom? Theo said it’s because you’re too ashamed to tell anyone. He said that every time you pass someone who was there, they will laugh. Is that what you want?”

“Get out of my trailer,” he ordered, refusing to discuss this with her.

“I can tell you who saw you,” she said. “And I know a secret about your so-called friends. They don’t deserve the trust you give them. There is something you really need to know about Katy Bishop.”

“Get out! I may not be able to do anything to Theo for putting you up to this, but I will get back at you. And I’m not interested in any lies you want to tell me about Katy. I trust her far more than I will ever trust you.”

“Look, I’m sorry for how far it went. It was supposed to be just me and, uh, someone he knows. But someone else was in charge, not Theo. His only role was to make me be the person you would hate. Okay, I deserve that. But I do know something you need to hear.”

“So just tell me and stop trying to trick me,” Tyler said. “Tell me this important news. Or get the hell out of my trailer.”

“I’ll tell you, if you promise to never tell anyone what I did to you.”

“Too late, I’ve already told Kurt. And you never will have enough news for me to not get back at you.”

“I’ll leave you with a bit of what I know. Kurt and Katy were in on it. They were part of what happened to you. I’ll tell you all of it once I have your promise to forgive me and not use what I did to keep me from getting into a movie. And you need to promise to not ever tell anyone what Theo told me to do.” Trisha got up and headed for the door.

“Theo is the one you need to fear,” her brother said. “He will use you, and when his efforts succeed, he’ll dump you in a second. All he wants is for me to quit, and I’m not going to do that. Nor am I ever going to forget that you stripped me naked for a bunch of other kids to see just to get something you want. I will make you pay for that.”

Trisha opened the door, but before she stepped out, she said, “It is a lot more complicated than you know. And none of your fellow actors can be trusted.” Then she stepped out and closed the door behind her.

While Tyler and his sister were having their post-dinner discussion, the director and producer were having their own meeting.

“I want to change the shooting schedule,” Tony began. “I want to move the humiliation scene up and shoot it tomorrow.”

“That’s a pretty big change,” Don sighed. “We will need different cameras, the right weather, and all the extras. I assume you have a good reason for wanting it.”

“There’s some rumors going around that someone did something to Tyler Bennett. Nobody will say anything directly, but I’ve been around kids and problems long enough to know that something happened. If our lead is not going to be able to do the scene, I want to know now before we shoot any other parts. He’s in 75% of the shoots, and we can’t reshoot them with another actor.”

“Okay,” Don grunted. “It will cost money either way, but you are right, we need to know now. Do you have any idea who was behind it or what happened?”

“The best I have is that it may have been Bennett’s sister, Trisha,” Tony said. “But I also believe that somehow Theo Harris may have been involved.”

“You aren’t going to make that accusation public, are you?” Don cautioned. “He’s got the press behind him, and it would make completing this movie difficult.”

“No, even if I had proof, which I don’t, I wouldn’t do anything now. I know how it would play in the press and what it would do to this project. Not to mention you and me.”

“Good. Even if you do get proof, talk to me before doing anything. Let’s wait and see how Bennett is holding up. Don’t take too much time with him tomorrow. If he can’t do the scene then we’ll have to move someone else into the role.”

“My first choice would be Kurt Jamison. He and Bennett seem to have become friends. Harris wants the job, but no way would I make that recommendation to you.”

“During the interviews, I sensed that Jamison wanted the lead too. Could he have been behind whatever happened to Bennett?” Don asked.

“I honestly have no idea. I don’t think he’s that kind of kid. Tyler trusts him, I’m sure of that. But could Kurt be pretending to be a good friend just to gain that trust and working behind the scenes to get Bennett out of the movie? I can’t give you a ‘no’ answer to that. Only my belief that isn’t the case. I was told that it was Kurt and Katy Bishop’s idea to let him rehearse the scene in his trailer. That was told to me by Emily Reed, who said she did see him in blue briefs but that nothing happened while she was there. But I can’t confirm it either way. I got the feeling that she did see something more and wouldn’t talk about it.”

“Go to Bennett’s trailer and see if he’ll talk,” Don suggested. “I know we are supposed to stay away from the kids trailers and that private meetings are only supposed to happen if the legal guardian is present. But maybe you can get him to come outside and talk.”

“I’ll try, he knows me from HOH and he likes me. But I don’t know what his reaction will be to me asking him if anything happened. He was bullied on our set and almost left because of it.”

“Yeah, I’ve heard the stories. If even a part of what Theo Harris is saying is true, you took a big chance on solving that problem. That was a closed set and a much smaller cast. You can’t attempt anything like that here.”

“I know. It was actually the parents of the two boys who picked on Tyler who came up with the idea. That won’t happen here.”

“I’ll notify Scott to get the camera and gear schedule changed. We’ll probably have to get everyone up early and actually shoot it in the early morning instead of evening like we’d planned. You’ll need to get the word out to everyone to be ready for a 5 A.M. start to their day.

“I’d better get going then,” Tony said. “I’ll start with Bennett and go from there.”

“Hey Tyler, can you come out so we can talk?” Tony said a few minutes later when his lead actor answered the knock on his trailer door.

“Is something wrong?” Tyler asked.

“No, I just want to talk about a schedule change and I’m not allowed to be inside your trailer with you unless your mother is also there.”

They sat at a picnic table between Tyler and Kurt’s trailers. Tony saw Kurt Jamison pull back the curtains from inside his trailer, but he didn’t come out.

“How are you doing?” Tony began. “We have concerns about your willingness to do the underwear scene.”

“I told you before, I’m a bit scared about it but I will do it. I even had a chance to practice it this afternoon.”

Tony noticed Tyler’s cheeks turn red. “I heard some rumors that something happened with that. Is there anything I should be concerned with? Are you and Kurt Jamison still getting along?”

“Kurt had nothing to do with it!” Tyler blurted. Then he paused. “I mean, he made a practice possible, but nothing wrong happened. I did it in front of Theo Harris and Emily Reed. I can do it on the set.”

Tony was positive the boy was lying. Something had indeed gone wrong with the practice session. “Look, we handled problems between you and Adam West and Tom Bolin in season one of HOH. If anything …”

“Nothing happened,” Tyler said loudly. “I’m good. And I can and will do the scene.” He got up and headed back towards his trailer.

“Tyler, wait,” Tony said softly. “We’re changing the shooting schedule. We are going to shoot it first thing in the morning. You will need to be at wardrobe around 5. I’ve got to start notifying the other actors.”

“You thought I’d chicken out and you’re trying to save your movie,” Tyler accused. Then his tone softened. “Okay, I get that. Nothing happened. I will do the scene, I promise. I want to have the lead in this movie as much as you and Mr. Cooper want it to be made. I’m not going to quit, and nobody can make me change my mind.” He went up the two steps and into his trailer before Tony could say another word.

A few minutes later there was another knock on Tyler’s door. He pulled back the curtain and saw Kurt Jamison standing there. He got up and let the boy in.

“Mr. Price just told me they are changing the shooting schedule,” Kurt said. “I got the feeling he thinks something changed. You are still going to do it, aren’t you?”

“Tell me the truth,” Tyler responded. “My sister said it was you and Kate who set up the whole thing that happened to me. She said you were just pretending to be my friend in order to gain my trust, but what you really want is the lead role. Is any of that true?”

“Not much of it,” Kurt asserted. “I am your friend. Kate is your friend, and she had the idea of a practice session with just a couple of other actors. All we did was give you a chance to practice it. I never wanted anything bad to happen. And I don’t believe for a second that Katy had any role to play in what did happen. But I can’t prove I didn’t do it. You’ll either have to trust me, or you’ll always think it was me, and I don’t want to be friends with someone who thinks I was so petty that I’d do what happened just to get a lead role in a movie.”

“I, uh, shit, Kurt, I’m sorry. It’s just that …”

“You don’t need to apologize,” Kurt interrupted. “You had to ask me. And you should ask Katy too. But maybe not sounding like an accusation. I never would do anything like that to anyone. One thing you should know is that I did want the part of Adam. But I didn’t get it because I couldn’t tell them during the interviews that I was sure I could do the underwear scene. That is why you got the lead. Consider the source – your sister, who you said is just like Theo, and Harris himself. If there was any way I could prove to you that I had nothing to do with what happened I’d do it. I’m the one who is sorry for being the person who got the ball rolling.”

Tyler thought he was pretty good at reading people, and everything he sensed was that Kurt was being completely honest. And it made sense that Trisha would lie to him to get him angry with Kurt. After all, she was clearly working with Theo.

“I’m sorry for the way I asked you,” he said. “You don’t need to worry about it. Tomorrow we’ll do the scene and then it won’t matter anyway.”

They talked for a few more minutes, and then both decided they needed to get to bed in order to get up early enough to be at wardrobe before the sun even rose.

Tyler was in the shower when Kurt came over the next morning. He knocked on the bathroom door to let Tyler know he was there.

Still feeling totally strange, Tyler decided it didn’t matter that he hadn’t brought clothing into the tiny bathroom. Kurt had seen him naked and hard yesterday. He walked out naked. “I’ll be ready in just a minute,” he said as he strolled to the bedroom. He was pleased to see that his friend didn’t stare at him. But try to get me into trouble and you’ll never work in this industry again. And that includes working on Head of Household. I’ll tell Tony Price and Don Cooper that you broke your NDA and told me how the other two actors on the show got spanked naked on the set. How they had to stand there, naked, while other kids laughed at them.” She saw the look on his face change. “Don’t deny it happened. I know more people than Theo Harris ever will, and I know exactly what happened on that set. And as far as anyone is concerned, the only way I came by that detailed knowledge is because you gave it to me. That is what I will tell everyone. You will never act again.” She got up and left without giving him a chance to say anything.

Tyler sat there stunned. She hadn’t liked him after all. She was the one who arraigned to have him stripped, not his sister, and not Theo Harris. And now he had a new thought. Was Kurt Jamison really his friend? Or had he been part of the plan all along too?

“Quite a turn of events, isn’t it,” he heard from behind him. He turned and saw Theo standing there with his phone out. “Just like a T.V. show where the guilty person thinks she can confess and get away with it. What are you going to do with what she told you?”

“Did you know? Were you part of any of it?”

“She asked me to help you overcome your fear. She told me she thought you were thinking about quitting and that she figured I was evil enough to push you over the edge. I considered it, and decided maybe I could. So I offered to tie you up outside, but you refused. I didn’t stop Juan from putting the ice cubes down your underwear. And I let Emily Reed see your dick. That was the whole sum of my role in what happened. And my version is the truth.”

“Did you promise my sister a role in a movie if I had quit?”

“No. Your sister would never get through an audition. I can’t prove it, but I am very sure it was Kate who offered that to Trisha. It wasn’t me.”

Tyler believed him. And it made sense too.

“The real question is, what are you going to do next?” Theo asked.

“I can’t do anything. You apparently heard her. I make any attempt to blame her and she’ll ruin my life. I never told her what happened on HOH. You said that Adam West told you what happened. Did you tell her?”

“I met Adam one time. He told me about stuff he did to you. He never told me anything about how he was punished. There were rumors around. I may have restated one of them to make you think I knew more than I really did. It’s how I work. But I never knew that he and the other kid were naked on the set. She got that information on her own. And don’t say anything to confirm it or deny it. I don’t want you to really violate the NDA.”

“Okay,” Tyler said, thankful that Theo Harris, of all people, reminded him not to disclose what happened on his T.V. show.”

“That still leaves you with having to live with this, or doing something to get her back. Have you given any thought to how she should be punished?”

“To tell the truth, I’d love to turn the tables on her. See her tied up naked and see how she likes it. But it isn’t possible, and I’d only end up in even more trouble. I hate that it happened, but I can get over it. The worst part is that I trusted her. And Kurt, and now I don’t know if he was part of it or not. I blamed you.”

“You were set up to blame me, and I am an easy target. I would have blamed me too. Again, I don’t know, but I really do believe that Jamison trusted her too and that she used him to get you to accept the practice session in your trailer. I don’t think he is your enemy. But I could be wrong. I also didn’t suspect her. Not until you ended up tied up naked in your bed. I knew your sister was part of it, she tried to recruit my sister to help. At least Gail had enough sense to not get involved in anything like that.”

Theo paused, waiting to see if Tyler had any more questions. After a few seconds of silence, he spoke. “I have something you may want. A recording of your whole conversation with her. I will copy it to a DVD if you want it. That way it can’t be traced back to me. I need to purge it from my phone. Let me know if you want it. Oh, and I am not here. I have an air-tight alibi for where I am right now.”

“Don’t worry, I think you’ve been telling me the truth all along. I can see how I was led to not trust you. I don’t think I need the DVD. I don’t think there is anything I can do with it. It sucks, not being able to let people know the truth, but she will destroy my career if I try anything. Thanks for the offer, and I’m sorry for the way I thought about you.”

Tyler went looking for Kurt Jamison. He needed to know. He found him in the first place he looked, his trailer.

“Hey Tyler, come on in,” Kurt said. “We’ve got a few scenes to reshoot, and I think you’re in a couple of them, so we’ll be here for a few more days. What’s up?”

“This is going to sound very accusatory, and I’m sorry, but I have to know the truth. I know who stripped me in my trailer. I have absolute proof, but I can’t use it without my career being destroyed. It was a total surprise to me, and now I have to know. Did you know it was going to happen? Were you part of it in any way?”

Kurt sat on his sofa and pointed to a chair for Tyler. “I want to know, but don’t tell me. The answer to your question is still that I knew nothing about what happened. Katy came to me with a concern that you might quit, and if you did that Theo would get the job. She thought that a practice session would help settle your nerves. And she said that Theo would enjoy being part of it. He could put his character into the role. We had this discussion, so I can only think that what you have learned since then cast a shadow on me and Katy.”

“Let’s just say it may me question everything. I do know for a fact that Theo was really just trying to help me overcome my fear. He did enjoy it, but he did not strip me. But what I know didn’t implicate you in any way. I just needed to see your face again as I asked the question. I’m sorry for making you think I don’t trust or believe you.”

“Like I said before, you need to be careful with trust. Just like in all parts of life, there are people who will go to any extreme to get what they want. I had what I wanted – a major role in this movie. Yes, I wanted to play Adam, but not if it meant being seen in briefs. I hope you realize that pictures of you tied to that post will be all over the internet after the movie is released. I didn’t want that. I have no problem with you getting the lead, and you did a much better job than I thought you would. I think this will help your career. But not if you let out who hurt you. You’re being smart to do nothing. There are ways to make people pay for what they did, but you don’t have the right connections and I’m not willing to risk helping you get revenge. Because revenge is the best you can hope for. If you name the person who was behind it, you will get burned. I am still your friend, and I’m not offended or even surprised that you needed to confirm that. It’s a wise policy.”

Tyler believed him, and took him up on an offer to play a video game. When he returned to his trailer the first thing he saw was a drawer partially open at his desk. He went to it immediately and found a DVD case with a small bottle of eyeglass cleaner on top of it, along with a cleaning towel. He got the message, don’t leave fingerprints. He used the towel to move the DVD to a safer place.

The scenes he needed to be in for re-shooting were in the early parts of the movie, and mostly were there to correct some of his missed lines. Others were for wardrobe mistakes. There were other scenes to redo that he wasn’t part of.

Theo came calling on him right after his parts were done. His mother and sister were with him, and he told Tyler to call his mother. They had a meeting with Dan Cooper, the producer.

When they arrived, Kurt Jamison and his father were already there.

“I heard you had a script for an action movie starring three 13-year-old boys,” Theo began once they were in Mr. Cooper’s office on the set. “If my information is correct, you need one to be the bad guy and one to be the hero, and a third who plays both sides. I’d like you to think about the three of us.”

“Someday I’d like to know where you get your information from,” Don said. “Don’t go public with that, but it was a good script and it is already partially funded. We’d need to find the actors in a month or so, and shooting would start early winter.”

Tyler was stunned. Shooting for his T.V. show would end right around then, and being in another movie was just what he wanted. He looked at Theo and said, “I guess you’re the bad guy, and Kurt the middle guy. Leaving me to be the hero.”

“Actually, I think you are crafty enough to play the middle guy,” Theo offered. “It would be well outside your role in this movie and give you a lot of credibility in the industry if you could pull it off.”

He turned to Dan Cooper. “I want to sign that I am available for a shooting schedule, and hopefully you’ll consider all three of us.” He turned back to Tyler. “Signing that kind of agreement means that you won’t take any other offers, not even a commercial. It is a bit of a risk as something else could pass you by. You also will agree to not do anything risky, like climbing trees, skateboarding, or contact sports.”

“I’m interested,” Kurt said. “Tyler did a great job on this movie and I’d like to act opposite him again. I’ll also sign on.”

“I have HOH, and sometimes we have to reshoot a scene or even an episode,” Tyler explained. “We can run into the first week or so of winter if that happens.”

“Not a problem, just disclose it on the form,” Don said as he opened a drawer on his desk and pulled out the forms. “You need to read this carefully, and your legal guardian must also sign. I’d suggest involving your agent and a lawyer, but that is up to you guys. From the brief review of the script, I’d love to have all three of you audition.”

There was a bit more discussion, especially from Tyler’s mom, before the meeting broke up.

“Thanks,” Tyler said to Theo sincerely. “I didn’t know you’d actually help me with something like that.”

“It’s a business, and who directs and acts in movies you appear in raises or lowers your image. You did a very good job here, and Kurt is a very seasoned actor. Working together on two films in a row will play well, especially if this movie becomes the hit that I think it will. But you’re welcomed.”

They left the office area and split off from the parents. “I want to have a last look at the summer camp we never really explored,” Theo said. “You guys interested?”

“Sure, I’ve nothing better to do except to start packing,” Tyler said. Kurt also agreed.

As they headed for the abandoned camp ground used as a background for the movie, they passed two boys who were giggling as they ran towards family camp.

“I hope they didn’t vandalize anything,” Kurt said.

“Look, there’s another one leaving that cabin.” Theo pointed to the last cabin in the back. Let’s check it out.”

No matter what they expected to find, none of the boys were prepared for what was inside. Tyler was first, with Kurt right behind him and Theo bringing up the rear. The back wall was partially damaged, leaving the posts that supported the roof standing free. Tied to two of the posts were Trisha Bennett and Katy Bishop. And both girls were totally naked. At Katy’s feet was a DVD case and a jar of shaving cream and a razor. Neither of the girls had any visible pubic hair.

All Tyler could do was stare. Kurt stood next to him, also unsure of what to do. Neither of them noticed that Theo hadn’t entered the cabin.

“Who’s there,” pleaded Katy. “I’ll pay you a hundred dollars to untie me. Please.”

“I’ll, uh, do something for you too,” Trisha added. “I don’t have much money, but my brother does. I’ll get him to pay you, I promise. Just untie us.”

Tyler touched Kurt on the shoulder and pointed towards the door. He waited until his friend was outside the cabin.

“How much do you think you are worth?” he asked as he removed the blindfold from his sister.

“Tyler,” she cried. “Untie me, please.”

He had gone to the next post and took the blindfold from Katy’s eyes.

“I suppose you are enjoying this,” she said. “But I warned you not to do anything. You’ll be sorry.”

“I had nothing to do with this.”

“Yeah, right. I’ll bet it was you who shaved me and stuck your fingers in my box. I get it, you wanted revenge. But you’ll soon wish you hadn’t done it. The quicker you release me, the better it will be for you.”

“Trisha, how much of what was done to me was your idea?” he asked, turning away from Katy and forcing his eyes to stay on his sister’s face.

“Please, we can talk about this later. Dozens of people were here, and more might be coming. Just untie us.”

“I want answers first,” he said.

“Get out of here Booker,” his sister suddenly yelled as she looked past him. “You too Andy!”

Tyler turned and saw a young black kid and a slightly older white boy. “Get!” he said. And tell any other kids heading this way to stay out or else.”

The two boys took one last look at the naked girls and then scampered out the door.

“As I said, I want answers,” he said as he turned back to his sister. “Or I can leave and let them in. Who were they?”

“Efrem Jefferson and Karen White’s brothers,” Katy responded. “They saw us because you allowed them to. You’re digging your own grave. And the answer to your question is your sister planned the entire thing. She convinced me to shave you. Although playing with your tiny dick was fun. I pretended it belonged to Kurt. Except I know his is larger.”

“That’s a lie!” Trisha said. “She said she would get me in a movie if I got you to quit. But it was all her idea. I wasn’t even in your trailer when she was, you know, touching you.”

“You told me it was Theo Harris who offered you a role in a movie,” Tyler said.

“Okay, I lied about that. Katy told me to blame him for everything.”

“If I untie you, can I trust you to untie Katy?”

“Yeah, I will, I promise.” Trisha looked around the room. “Where’s our clothes?”

“I have no idea, but I’ll look around outside and see if I can find them.”

“Stop playing games, we know you were one of the boys who stripped us and tied us up,” Katy stormed. “Go and get them or else.”

“Or else what?” Tyler said. “Maybe I should just free my sister. She at least seems to regret what she did to me. All you are doing is making threats. But like you warned me, you’d better have proof.”

Tyler had stepped over to where his sister stood, but the ropes that bound her to the beam were tied from the outside.

Katy realized that she was losing this contest. She had no idea who had come up from behind her and blindfolded her before carrying her to the cabin and stripping her. One thing she did know, it wasn’t Tyler. He wasn’t strong enough.

“Okay, look, I wanted Kurt to get the lead role,” she admitted. “It was mostly my idea. But your sister was very much on board and even asked to be the one to strip you. I just wanted to see him in underpants.”

“You wanted more than that,” Trisha challenged. “You were working with the wardrobe lady and you were going to replace his underpants with a pair that would tear away. You’d get to see him naked. That was your plan.”

“Last chance before I decide to leave you,” Tyler stated. “Is what she just said true?”

There was a long pause before Katy responded. Tears ran down her cheeks as she softly said, “Yeah. That was my plan. Please don’t tell him.”

“He doesn’t need to,” Kurt said as he stepped inside. “I heard it all. Because of you, Tyler almost didn’t trust me. And now I hear that you were going to have me be naked, on set with all the extras and the other girl actors there to see me. And the wardrobe lady would have probably lost her job. All that just to see me naked? Was it worth it? Here, I’ll give you what you want.”

Overcoming his modesty, he unsnapped his pants and let them fall. Then he pushed his boxers down, leaving his privates exposed. He stepped right in front of her as his dick started to expand.

“This is what you wanted, so get a good look because I’m never going to forget seeing you naked. I hope Tyler unties you, but I wouldn’t blame him if he didn’t. You deserve being seen naked. Don’t come after him or me.”

He pulled his pants back up. “Sorry about the two boys, I was keeping a couple of the extra’s away and they snuck past me. It seems everyone knows there are two naked girls here. I’ll keep the rest at bay.”

“The ropes are tied from the outside,” Tyler said. “I’m going around to the back of the cabin to untie my sister. If I get a sincere apology from you before I’m done, I’ll untie you as well. And while I appreciate Kurt’s offer of protection from you, I can defend myself. So let this go. I won’t tell anyone. I’ll deny ever seeing you naked. I’d suggest you deny it too.”

As he headed for the door, he heard Katy say, “I’m sorry. Really sorry. I won’t cause you any trouble. Please untie me.”

He decided it was good enough.

After releasing the ropes from both of the girls, he found their clothing. Or most of it. Katy’s panties were missing. He tossed the clothing into the cabin without entering. When they came out, he and Trisha headed back to his trailer. Kurt was already gone.

Tyler sent his sister on to their mom’s trailer and went inside his own to start packing. The first place he went to was where the DVD with Katy’s confession on it was. He was surprised to find it was still there. He was interrupted by a knock at the door. When he saw who it was, he went out rather than inviting her inside.

“Did you leave the DVD?” Katy asked.

“No. It was at your feet when I came in. What was on it?”

The conversation we had where I told you it was me was recorded by someone. All of what I said was there. Enough to end my career. Do you have any idea who made it?”

“Nothing but guesses,” Tyler lied. “I guess once you destroy it, you’ll be safe.”

“If there’s one, there’s a second. I’ll never be safe. But whoever has it would have already used it if they planned to. It was given to me as a warning to not ever accuse you of any involvement in what happened to me and your sister. I don’t think you have enough knowledge of how the movie industry works to have done this. So someone else knows. Probably Theo Harris.”

“I could guess it was him too, but I don’t know. He did get me and Kurt to go to Dan Cooper and sign forms to be free to film another movie together this winter.”

“I’m sorry for all I did. Kurt won’t talk to me, and I don’t blame him. Letting me and your sister see him naked had to really hurt him. He’s shy, maybe more so than you are. I’ve lost a friend. Two of them. You and I could have been friends, but I guess I’ve destroyed that possibility.”

“For now,” Tyler admitted. “I don’t trust you, but I do think I know the truth. I haven’t figured out how to deal with my sister, but I think it is best to just let it sit. She’s embarrassed and seems to have changed a bit because of it. Time will tell.”

“Did you really not know anything about it?” Katy asked. “You weren’t part of it?”

“I wasn’t. I was shocked when I walked into the trailer and saw the two of you. Just so you know, Kurt was with me. I signaled him to leave before taking off the blindfolds.”

“Yeah, he told me that too. He said you two were just exploring the old cabins, looking for thing’s kids might have left behind. And then you saw two kids running from the one I was in.”

“Yeah, that’s about how it happened,” he lied again. It was clear to him that Theo had made it all happen. The fact that Kurt hadn’t mentioned him being there showed he’d been right to not say that Harris had been with them.

“Well, I just wanted to end our time together with another apology. I was hoping you’d tell me who made the DVD. I suspect you have one too. But it doesn’t matter. I’m going to leave you alone. I never admit that I saw you or Kurt naked, and I was never seen naked. Rumors will spread. Do you have any idea who or how many kids saw us?”

“No idea at all,” he answered truthfully. “The two we saw run away were from the family trailers. But Kurt and I were in a meeting with Dan Cooper until just before we found you.”

“Okay, I’ll have to live with not knowing,” she said. “Goodbye Tyler Bennett. Good luck with your career. You are a very good actor. Even your lies to me just now were very convincing.”

“What makes you think I’m lying?” he asked as she stood up.

“I’m an actress. We lie as a profession. It becomes obvious when we see other people lie. Don’t worry, I think I know who set this up. I was hoping you’d tell me, but it was best that you lied.” She turned away.

“Goodbye to you as well, and good luck with your career,” he said. She continued walking away without saying another word.
