It wasn’t long before they turned the corner into their street and parted at Scott’s front gate. Liam promised to text him later, once he had checked what was happening over the weekend. He did warn him though that as their mother would be back home that it might not be possible for them to meet up again until the following week. Scott gave each of them a hug, before opening his front door and going inside, as Liam and Lisa continued a few houses further until they reached their own house. It was almost 4 o’clock when they arrived home; Lisa opened the front door and they went inside, hoping they had got there before their mother, and were both relieved to find that she hadn’t arrived home yet, and that they were in time to greet her when she did get back. Liam went into the lounge and put the television on, whilst Lisa went into the kitchen to get some drinks, before joining Liam on the sofa. They watched television and chatted together for around half an hour, until they heard the sound of the front door opening and a very recognisable voice calling out; “Hello, is there anyone at home?”

“Hi mum! Yes, we’re here,” yelled out Lisa, as she and Liam rushed out into the hallway to welcome her home. As she closed the front door behind her Mrs Miles turned to find two very excited children running towards her; they threw their arms around her and each gave her big hugs and kisses. “It’s so good to see you,” exclaimed Lisa.

“We’ve missed you,” announced Liam.
