The boys were excited about being in today's parade. With their blue uniforms, white shoes and socks, and red and white banners, they were to be the Red, White and Blue at the head of the line of march. They just knew that they were going to be the hit of the parade, with their picture, in living color, on the front page of the town paper. Without warning, disaster struck. One cub accidently pushed another into a mud puddle. Several more soon followed. Five boys ended up with wet and muddied trousers, three with damp ones. Many pairs of once white shoes and socks weren't white anymore. Every last banner was a soggy mud splattered mess. With only twenty minutes to go to step off, a minor miracle would be needed to save the day. Each cub had at least one parent present. As a group, Mrs. Abernathy and the parents conferred. After several frantic minutes of discussion a plan was formulated. After several more intense moments, an unanimous consensus of details was achieved. The parents sat themselves upon a nearby row of benches, two adults to a bench. Each boy was ordered to stand facing his own parent and remove his uniform pants. The cubs' protests were dismissed with the statement that they couldn't be permitted to disgrace their den and pack by appearing in dirty uniforms. To the boys' horror, they were next ordered to remove their underpants and give them to their parents. All eight members of the den were acutely embarrassed at being put on such public display. After a stern two minute lecture, the cubs suddenly found themselves draped over parental laps. Very quickly the park resonated with the sound of multiple bare hands spanking multiple bare bottoms. Almost immediately, a cacophony of boy cries, screams and howls mixed in. The parents did not stop until each boy's bottom was a bright fiery red matching that of the ruined banners. From all the hopping around going on, it was clear that the den was going to present an interesting marching technique. Wearing their blue uniform shirts, waving their white briefs, and sporting very red bottoms and faces, the Red, White and Blue was the hit of the parade. Many pictures of the cubs' triumph, in living color, were printed in the town paper, both on the front page and pages four and five. Ensuring the boys still had red faces long after their bottoms had faded to normal, some of the pictures clearly showed everything they had between their legs. It was completely lost on the cubs that the pictures didn't show anything most of the town had not already seem. Mrs. Abernathy and the other parents were now being kept quite busy fielding the many requests for the den to appear in various parades and events. In their Red, White and Blue outfits, of course.
