                              Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow
                                      by Victoria Rudd

    Cradling my face
    Between my hands,
    Sighing,
    I close my eyes.

    Remembering yesterday,
    Laughter, Joy, Light,
When I knew I loved you,
And I thought you loved me, too.

    Contemplating today,
    Questions, Confusion, Shadows,
Pent up emotions I am afraid to show,
But you know me so well.

    Predicting tomorrow,
    Laughter, a hollow chuckle,
    Joy, bliss deflected
    off a battered tin can,

    Light, the pale reflection
    of a trillion stars
    dead light years ago.
I can fool you...I have to.
