                                   Three Cheers for Feminism!

Hi. IÕm from the future. But donÕt let that scare you. ItÕs a feminist
future. Here all the women work. Every single one of them. ThereÕs no
glass ceiling, at least not one put up by men, because we all stay at home.
ItÕs a tough life, but somebodyÕs got to do it, and thatÕs why I agreed
with my wife when she married me to be the one to bear the burden.
I get up about noon. I spend an hour soaking in the tub, so IÕll smell
nice and fresh all day. Then I spend another hour doing my nails. But
please donÕt think of me as a time waster. I watch MenÕs Gripes on T.V.
ItÕs a new talk show. ItÕs very good. ItÕs hosted by a big fat guy who lets
all us hard-working stay-at-home dads air our feelings.
Two oÕclock means itÕs time to rush! I spend twenty minutes looking
over my clothes to see what will make me feel bright and happy. Then I go
to the primary school in my van. I have to pick up my daughter. Plus five
other little girls from our neighborhood who car pool with us. When itÕs
my week. When itÕs not my week, I spend another hour watching T.V.
Sometimes all the little girls and I go home and play together. If
itÕs sunny outside, we strip down and go swimming in the backyard pool.
When itÕs not so sunny, we go to the mall. I always try to make sure my
daughter and I have the latest fashions. ItÕs the least we can do, given all
the hard work my wife is doing for us.
Tuesdays and Thursdays, in the fall, is soccer practise. I help my
daughter and, sometimes, her girlfriends get out of their school clothes
and into their soccer gear. Then itÕs off to the field, where I spend two
hours watching the girls bounce up and down in their training bras.
Supper! MustnÕt forget that! After soccer practise I take all the
little girls home. Then I rush home and throw something in the
microwave. About five minutes later my wife arrives. She usually brings
work with her, so we donÕt get much time together. But itÕs okay. Because
after supper, some nights, all the little girls come over again to have a
sleepover with my daughter!
ItÕs very enjoyable to have a whole house full of little girls. With
my wife upstairs in her study, I have a party for the girls. Last summer
we had a sleepover bikini party, and I wore a bathrobe and pretended to be
Hugh Hefner. I know, ItÕs sexist. But it was a theme party and I played an
old-fashioned male for just that one night. The next day, it was back to
the grind of being a feminist house-hubby.
Yes, IÕm a stay at home dad. Thank God I have a daughter and all her
little friends to keep me company, or I might feel unfilled. But three
cheers for feminism-- IÕm doing my part to help women achieve all they
can!
