Sapphic Dreams, Chapter Five

by Adam Bookbinder

Katie stumbled as the blindfold fell away and Helen grabbed her hand, pushing the tip of her middle finger into a small pot of red dye.

"Choose her," she urged, backing away quickly.

The crowd in the square counted loudly, "One ... two ..." and the girls clapped and chanted, "Choose! Choose! Choose!" in unison. The crowd reached three seconds while Katie was still stumbling around dizzily and she knew she had to act fast. There was a wide circle of girls all around her, all wearing identical white wrap-around skirts and white sleeveless tops like herself. She began to panic and her heart was beating wildly as she scanned the girls' faces in the circle around her. They were all so pretty that she would have been thrilled to choose any one of them but there was a mysterious bond between her and Pixie and she didn't want to let the little girl down.

Then she saw her. She was clapping and chanting like the other girls but Pixie was almost screaming and Katie could see the exertion on her face as she attempted to shout above the others. She wasn't chanting, 'Choose, choose, choose,' she was shouting at the top of her voice, "Choose ME! Choose ME!" Katie ran towards her and Pixie stopped chanting, clapping her hands with excitement. Katie pressed her middle finger onto Pixie's forehead just as the crowd shouted, "Five ... six!" Then there was a huge cheer from everyone and Pixie threw her arms around Katie's neck and Katie hugged her and picked her up as easily as if she were a rag doll.

"You did it! I knew you'd choose me!" Pixie said excitedly and she kissed Katie exuberantly on on her lips. Then she jumped down and they stood before the priestess who, smiling, congratulated them both, blessed them and gave them rings to wear. Katie put on Pixie's ring and Pixie put on Katie's, her face beaming as she did so. The priestess explained that they were both now united by Sappho's mysteries and that during the next month they would have carnal knowledge of each other.

"After sunset," Sophia said, "you may retire to your bridal chamber at any time you choose, but once you do so you must remain there, alone, until the next full moon rises. Then I will visit you again and we will conclude the ceremony of your Honey Moon."

Katie squeezed Pixie's hand excitedly and the little girl squeezed hers back. "You may kiss now and show your love in the presence of Sappho," the priestess said smiling.

There was a cheer from the crowd and pink confetti rained down on them as Katie swept Pixie up into her arms and kissed her full on the lips. At first she just pressed her lips against the little girl's, unsure as to what sort of kiss was appropriate, but when Pixie tipped her head to one side and opened her mouth Katie responded and they kissed passionately.

When they finished Pixie's little face was beaming and her eyes were sparkling. Katie was overwhelmed with how pretty the little girl was and she wanted to kiss her again and again and again. Instead though, they joined the crowds around the square and watched the rest of the ceremonies, cheering as each woman chose her little girl.

"Let's get something to eat," Pixie said when it was all over and the band had begun to play again, "I'm starving!"

Katie allowed herself to be pulled through the crowds of people towards the buffet that was set out on tables under the olive trees. Strangely, Katie felt hungry too and she wondered if her hunger was perhaps in some way brought on by excitement and passion. They filled their plates and sat down at a small table in the square.

Pixie slipped off a sandle and rubbed her bare foot up and down Katie's calf. "Are you glad you're here?" she asked.

The older girl grinned as she dipped her bread in a small bowl of tzatziki, wondering how she should answer. "I'm thrilled to be here Pixie," she replied, reaching down and caressing the little girl's smooth ankle, "but I don't really know where here is and I'm scared that it will end too soon, before I've spent any time with you and found out who you are and why we've been drawn together in this place."

Pixie ate hungrily. "You won't go now," she said assuredly, "Not now you've showered, dressed in the cloth of Sappho, got that ring on your finger and eaten." She looked up at Katie her eyes sparkling. "Eating's the main thing," she said, "once you've eaten, that's it, you're kind of stuck here." Katie laughed as Pixie shrugged her shoulders as if to say, 'Oh dear, what a shame to be stuck in a terrible place like this!'

"And how long have you been 'stuck' here?" Katie asked, running her hand up the girl's calf to her knee.

"Three moons and a bit," Pixie replied, "and it's funny, the longer you're here the more you can't remember the other place. It's like the other place is the dream and this place is real and, like a dream, you can't remember all the details, so I've started keeping a dream book of the other place just like you keep a dream book of here."

Katie was relieved to know that this wonderful dream wasn't going to come to an abrupt end, as it had done before, and she ate as if it was her first meal in days. People were dancing in the square now, women with women, women with girls and girls with girls, all of whom were dressed in the Sapphic cloth. There were villagers dancing too but all the village folk were dancing males with females.

"It's strange," Pixie continued, "When you go back to the other realm you remember everything straight away and you start to forget this place. So in the other place I forget here and I keep a diary there of what I can remember of here."

"How did we both get here though?" Katie asked, "I mean, don't get me wrong, I can't believe how lucky I am to be here with you and I'm so excited about it all, but I just don't understand it."

Pixie licked her wide, sensual lips and Katie felt drawn to them yearning to kiss the little girl again and hold her in her arms. "It's all about what's in your heart," Pixie explained after a moment's thought. "You see, we met in the other world, and I sort of fell in love with you, and I loved you so much that one night I woke up here in Eresos. Psyche taught me the arts of Sapphic love and then Sophia initiated me. Then I met other girls who had fallen in love too and we all learned together how to summon our heart's desire."

Katie's jaw dropped in astonishment. "You exist in the other realm too? And you've met me?" she asked incredulously.

Pixie nodded enthusiastically, "It's amazing isn't it?" she said, "The only thing is, I can't remember much about you in the other realm. All I can remember is written in my dream diary and I've even drawn a picture of you too. If we can both come to know each other well enough during our Honey Moon then we can both meet in the other realm too!"

Katie realised that what she thought of as the real world was fading in her memory, just like a dream, and only Eresos seemed real. "This Choosing Ceremony that we've just taken part in and these rings and our Honey Moon, which starts tonight, does that mean we're married?" Katie asked, a big grin on her face.

"Kind of," Pixie replied thoughtfully, "but it's more to do with wanting to be lovers and joining together physically as well as spiritually. It doesn't mean that we've got to stay together for the rest of our lives, or that we can't ever love anyone else, like when the villagers get married. They don't know what marriage truly is and their weddings are just a pale imitation of our own."

Their conversation was interupted by the appearance of Helen who emerged out of the crowds with a tray containing a jug of wine and two glasses. With her was a little dark-haired girl who didn't look to be more than five or six years old. The child was holding on to Helen's skirt and couldn't seem to take her eyes off the older girl.

"This is Natalie," Helen said, setting the glasses down on the table and filling both with red wine. She ruffled the girl's hair and the child beamed at her while slightly shyly trying to avoid the gaze of both Pixie and Katie.

"Her parents want her to join the Sisterhood and Psyche has given her to me for a month's instruction while you two are on your Honey Moon. She spent her first night with me last night and now she won't leave me alone, will you little one?" Helen asked rhetorically, her hand resting gently on the little girl's head. "She follows me everywhere! Psyche says the light of Sappho burns brightly within her, and I think she's right! She must have asked me a dozen times already today if we can go back to my dwelling and do again what we did last night!"

Pixie laughed. "I'd almost be jealous if it wasn't for Katie!" she joked, "Perhaps after our Honey Moon we can all spend a night together in Katie's dwelling." Pixie directed her suggestion at Natalie, and Katie watched in amazement as the little girl nodded her head enthusiastically, her eyes widening and her shyness suddenly gone.

"See what I mean," Helen said, "She's only had it once and now it's all she thinks of!"

The little girl looked up at her adoringly and Helen ruffled her hair. "I must confess it's pretty much all I've been thinking of today too!" she said. "Last night was lovely and if I'm truthful I can't wait to get her home!"

As Helen made her way back through the crowds, with the little girl holding her hand, Pixie explained that the maid couldn't retire until Katie had no further need of her.

"Why can't we retire until after sunset?" Katie asked, feeling guitly that she was keeping Helen and the gorgeous little nymph from being alone together.

"It's just the custom," Pixie explained, "All the preparation for a wedding is done by the villagers. They prepare all the food and provide the wine and get everything ready so it's just a politeness that the Brides spend a little time showing their appreciation of the villagers' hospitality."

Katie looked around the square and noted that all the Brides were being treated with even more reverence than the other Sapphic women and girls. It seemed that the villagers were honoured by the presence of the Brides and she felt a little guilty for wanting to rush off and leave them.

"Come on," Katie said jumping up, "let's dance and show everyone how happy we are to be together!"

"That's what this is all about," Pixie shouted over the noise as she followed Katie towards the centre of the square where people were dancing. "This is a celebration of what we're going to do next behind closed doors. Everyone knows it and everyone is excited by it and they want to see the Brides' passion before we leave them to be alone together."

The music seemed to grow louder as they joined the other dancers and Katie picked up Pixie who wrapped her skinny legs around the older girl's waist, her arms around her neck. "Are we allowed to kiss?" she asked, and was answered by Pixie's hot, wet lips on her own.

Katie danced, spinning around and around as she kissed the little girl and lost herself in the beat of the music. She had drunk only one glass of wine but it seemed to have gone straight to her head and she felt as if she was going to explode with happiness and excitement as she hugged the little girl's nubile body to her own, kissing her passionately.

Pixie was an accomplished kisser and she snogged with all the experience and confidence of a girl three times her age. Katie wondered if she would be the same in bed and her heart seemed to swell in her chest with excitement as she imagined sucking and licking Pixie's bare fig. All she wanted now was to get the little imp in bed and make her come over and over again with her fingers and tongue. She imagined how Pixie would look when she came and again her heart seemed to swell with desire, spurred on by the little girl's kisses. Katie couldn't imagine anything more delightful than the expressions on a little girl's face as she climaxed. It was something she had never seen and only imagined, yet tonight she would hopefully see it over and over again.

The music seemed strangely hypnotic as Katie danced amongst a group of Sapphic women with young girls who she recognised from the ceremony earlier. Pixie broke away from their kiss and slid down to the floor exposing her bare bottom briefly to the surrounding dancers as her short skirt rode up. There were admiring glances from some of the other women and Katie felt proud that Pixie was with her.

They returned to their table eventually and drank some more wine. Katie dipped a napkin in her drink and used it to wipe the red smudge off Pixie's forehead and the little girl told her more about the secrets of Sappho. "Remember when I showed you my bare fig and told you that you have to know what you want?" she asked.

"Well," she continued after Katie nodded, "in the other realm women have been repressed sexually, but not in this one. There are no taboos here. To be in tune with this place you have to be honest and know your heart's desire. You have to know that you're really hot for me. Don't be ashamed of it, celebrate it! And tell me how hot you are for me, and fuck me, not like a porcelain doll that might break, but like a hot blooded female, just like you, but in a smaller body!"

Pixie was repeating the teachings of the Sapphic Sisterhood, something all young girls study as they prepare for the arrival of the women who desire them. Women who have repressed their feelings all their lives and yearn more than anything to lie naked with a girl and spend the night with her, exploring her body all over. Pixie had been with many women now and was fully prepared to initiate the newcomer. She would take the lead in their lovemaking and would encourage Katie to let go of her inhibitions and become a lioness in bed. She had a month in which to do it yet Pixie had a feeling that with Katie, her desire was burning so brightly that she might well get ravished on the very first night. She certainly hoped so.

They danced again then mixed with the villagers, thanking them for such a splendid festival. They didn't rush off after sundown, feeling that it would be rude to do so and the other Brides remained too, which seemed to please the villagers. It was nearly midnight when Psyche rang a bell in the middle of the square and announced that it was time for all the Brides to return to their bridal chambers.

Helen appeared again with Natalie in tow and wished them both well, and it was clear that she could hardly wait to get back to her dwelling herself. "All your presents are in your bridal chamber," she said, "open them when you like, although you might want some of your presents for this evening!" She winked at Pixie to emphasize the point and the little girl understood exactly what she meant, grinning in response.

"You are to remain alone until the next full moon," Helen said, "and no-one is to disturb you, not even me. The dwellings on either side of yours will be empty and no one but you will have access to the beach, so you have got complete isolation for your Honey Moon. I will set out all your meals in the dwelling next to yours with the blue door. Breakfast will be ready for you at 8am, lunch at 1pm and dinner at 7pm. If the door is locked it means I am inside. Don't forget that we are not to meet unless there is an emergency. If you need anything then just leave a note for me on the table."

Katie and Pixie both thanked Helen, said goodbye to Natalie, and left the square hand in hand. The other Brides headed off in different directions to their remote and isolated bridal chambers where they would spend the next month together. Katie was thrilled that they were getting the beach to themselves, it was going to be wonderful and she remembered her fantasy of making love to Pixie on the beach. Perhaps now it would come true!

As soon as they were out of sight Katie grabbed Pixie by the shoulders, "This is it!" she exclaimed, "We're alone together at last!" and the two girls ran, helter-skelter in the direction of the path that led down to the beach.
