Good Things Come in Small Bundles, Chapter 10

by Moonraker

When people go missing there is great concern from loved ones. They always think the worsed. Be it accidental death, murder, kidnap, etc. Being in the wrong place at the wrong time, usually applies to apposing sides of war. One does not expect to be blown up in peaceful times by a bomb from WW11.

Pearl and Ruby were lucky that they are still alive, but for all intense and purposes, at this time, they may as well be dead.

They are in a coma, as medical conditions state. In reality they are both in their Astral bodies. Luckily they were holding each other when the ceiling collapsed on top of them. They emerged in their new forms, floating above their inert bodies, in the hospital.

The problem was, that no one knew that they were there. When their bodies were found, the Evening Standard made a big thing about it, saying it was a miracle. There was not a scratch on either of the bodies. They surmised that the females were well groomed, and perhaps quite rich, and left out the most important description. Perhaps they had never seen a midget, but they described Ruby as a child. The heading was "Mother and Daughter in coma" after bomb exploded.

Anyone who lived in and around London would have read that. If one didnt buy a paper they would have read it by a disgarded issue.

It was the talk of London, as people expect things like that, especially when there is a spate of the latest terrorist activities anywhere.

Sam read it on her tea break at work, and thought no more of it. She was disappointed that Pearl and Ruby were not answering their mobiles. It was a week now since they saw each other and she had been discussing with Emma that they should invite them both to a meal, and they could meet everyone , especially Hanna their Mum.

Emma said it was time to tell her about their relationships with each other. More or less to inform her that Angel was more ready than she thought. Hannah intoduced lesbian incest to Emma and Samantha at the age of ten and eight. She thought that Angel was a very innocent eight year old. She was in for a surprise.

Emma and Sam both thought that they should tell their mum about Ruby and Pearl.

Once the news broke about the "Mother and Daughter" still surviving and in a coma, people got used to the news not being news, and thought as long as they are alive and being looked after, there wasnt too much concern.

The chamber maid Sylvia, of the hotel where Ruby and Pearl had booked in started to ask questions.

She was talking to the other maids on their tea break.

"Do you know, my "Girls" have been away for over a week now, I wonder where they have gone this time?"

"I wonder how many times they get mistaken for Mother and Daughter" Mavis said.

"Mmmmm, thats what the Standard said about the girls in a coma. Was there any photos taken?" Sylvia asked.

"Havent seen any." Mavis said.

"So how do they know who they are?" Sylvia asked.

"They dont, they have never identified them." Mavis said.

"But what if they are my "Girls". Surely someone has misplaced a Daughter here and there. No one has come forward to say they have a Daughter or Daughters missing or as the paper said Mother and Daughter, why hasnt the Daddy come forward. Someone must know them." Sylvia said.

"Yes, of course someone will know them, but do they know they are missing. We need to see them." Mavis said.

"We need to see the house keeper and tell her." Sylvia said and left to go to her office.

"Come in Sylvia." Miss Cosham said. Her door was open and she saw Sylvia standing there looking excited.

What can I do for you?"

"We were talking about the girls still in a coma, after the bomb accident, and realised that the paper had never printed any pictures or names of these girls." Sylvia said.

"Thats right dear, thats because they dont know who they are." Miss Cosham replied.

"Well we was wondering cos, two of my lady clientels have not been to their rooms in over a week, and me and Mavis thought that was a bit unusual."

"Why is that Sylvia, and please call me Judith."

"Okay Judith. Well the times Ive been in the room with them, you know cleaning like you do, mostly they included me in their conversation."

"Nothing wrong in that, will you get to the point? I happen to know that they are very rich and have a very top of the range mobile home. They park it somewhere while they tour or do business in town, and stay in a hotel. When they have finished in London they will take their mobile home out of parking and drive somewhere else. They told me they are modern day Gypsy's. Couldnt we just check to see if they are not our guests. I mean if we can get a photo in the paper, someone may come forward. If they are our guests then we will know who they are, and can set peoples mind at rest." Sylvia said.

"I guess I should arrange for that to happen then, you may be the only person that can remember what they look like. Ill make a call and let you know what happens next." Judith said smiling.

"Thank you." Sylvia smiled and went back to her break.

Judith made the call, she spoke with the staff of Paddington Hospital, to arrange the identification of the two ladies in a coma. After the superintendant agreed that it would help if the public saw pictures. It would also help pubishing their names if indeed were the same as the guests staying at the hotel.

A date was arranged and the manager of the hotel took Sylvia to Paddington hospital.

The matron took Sylvia to Pearls room first, where she knew her immediatley.

"Your nurses really do a good job with her make up, thats exactly how she looks when shes sleeping.Where is Ruby?"

"Your assuming that the little girl next door is Ruby?" The matron asked.

"Well they were found together, and if it is Ruby they are not Mother and Daughter" Sylvia said profoundly.

As soon as she saw it was indeed Ruby, the matron was asking for actual full names, mainly for the hospital registration.

"So far we have managed to arrange for the ladies to have private rooms on the NHS,so if they ever come out of their comas they wont die of shock if they have to pay a bill. Are they close friends?" The matron asked.

"Perhaps now you will look closely at Ruby. She is a beautiful little person, and a perfectly formed woman As far as I know they are known as companians. Be nice if you could put them in the same room, though in the hotel they share a big bed. They said it was to save me a lot of work changing sheets everyday."Sylvia whispered and smiled.

"Really, well thank you for coming in, they may become more famous now that we have a name. What hotel do you work for?"

"Royal Kensington." Sylvia said proudly.

"Mmmmm, quite up market then." Goodbye.

Sylvia left and waited for her mananger to catch up while he signed papers, officially identifying Ruby and Pearl.

On the way back the manager told Sylvia to, mention the hotels name as much as possible, when being interviewd by the Standard reporter later. There would be a bonus in her wage packet next week.

Three days later there was a huge front page article in the Evening Standard about Ruby and Pearl and of course Sylvia the chambermaid who identified them.

It wasnt till a week later that Sam or Emma was told.

They has stopped reading the paper and were moping that Ruby and Pearl had left without saying goodbye.

Hannah had popped in to see how everyone was doing, and brought a few parcels of fish and chips for lunch.

Angel tucking in before anyone noticed a couple of pictures on the paper, as she removed the grease paper off the newspaper.

It was a bit greasy but she noticed Ruby and Pearl straight away.

She nearly choked on a chip.

"Aaaaaaggghhhh! mum, Its Ruby and Pearl, look, look, thats where they are, they havent left us, they were the Mother and Daughter." Angel spluttered.

Emma looked and gasped. Oh my Darling, Im so pleased I didnt call them bad things for leaving." Emma searched for the date of the paper.

"Oh fuck! Sorry mum, this papers a week old. Quick mum, have you got a number for the hospital." Emma asked.

"What hospital?" Hannah asked.

"Paddington of course, thats where all the injured people went after they were bombed."

Hannah fumbled for enquiries and got the number, and Emma was talking to the matron. She convinced the matron that Ruby and Pearl were their friends and arranged a visit for three visitors on the following Sunday. She would tell Sam when she came home.
