Ghost of a Chance, Finale

by Truh

This one's quite short, but I think it wraps it up nicely enough. Hopefully those of you waiting for it aren't too dissapointed. ^^;

Beatrice was not sure how to answer her companion, she wasn't even sure if she could. She didn't feel like she had a presence at all, as if she had no lungs, no mouth, no mind to make the words come. What she saw when she looked down would have caused her to cry if she could.

Chrissie was reaching up for her, tears streaming down her small face as she spoke in a voice that was cracking. "I-i can't reach you..." The girl said pitifully, "You're too high up..." Beatrice's heart went out to her, but she wasn't really sure of what she could do. As her substance became less and lass, the rose fell from behind her ear.

Chrissie plucked it from the air when it reached her as though it were her soul, cradling it to her chest as she watched her spectral companion fade into nothingness. Other than the absence of thorns, the rose was as fresh and dew-filled as it had been the day she'd left it in offering.

"It's not fair... For me to leave and break her poor heart... Why can't my purpose be for her? I'd stay as long as it took, just for her..." As soon as that thought passed through her mind, her substance suddenly seemed to start reversing it's process and reforming. Chrissie couldn't see this though, she was turned around now and holding the rose close to her heart.

Beatrice was still suspended in the air for the time being, and when she was whole once more she grinned wryly. "Heeeey!" She called from above, watching for when Chrissie turned and looked up in shock. "Y- yeah?" "Nice ass!" The flush and grin on the face of the girl holding the rose was delightful, and if she could help it Beatrice would be around for many more.

It was around then that gravity kicked in for the spirit though, and she began to fall. Chrissie was shocked and began to run back and forth, not sure what to do. Eventually she decided on holding the rose in her teeth and holding her arms out. The spirit landed in the girl's arms, about as weightless as one might expect. She flushed and looked up at Chrissie, winking at her. "Well, you know just how to treat a lady, don't you?~"

It took the both of them quite awhile to come down from the fear of almost loosing one another that had hung in the air for those moments, and hand-in-hand the duo began to walk back towards the main part of the graveyard.

"So, Button, how do you feel about weddings?"

"I always imagined myself as a blushing bride~..."

"Sounds about right."

"Are you saying I couldn't be the groom?"

"Well..."

"Are you?"

"Gotta catch me first~..."

"Hey, get back here!"
